“Stitchable Chinese Arts” Fashion Design Competition and Catwalk Show 2023-24

S.2 student Kate Lok participated in the “Stitchable Chinese Arts” Fashion Design Competition and Catwalk Show 2023/2024, organized by the Art Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute, Education Bureau, and the School of Fashion and Textiles at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

With guidance from professors and university students at the School of Fashion and Textiles, the 50 finalists engaged in workshops in April and May 2024 to bring their designs to life. The culminating event took place on 29 August 2024, where their creations graced the runway at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Kate’s outfit seamlessly blends modern and traditional styles, incorporating Chinese elements while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic.

• Garments designed for versatility, suitable for all occasions and adaptable across seasons.
• A striking red Tang suit adorned with Chinese dragon patterns, paired with black-and-white striped pants featuring a slit at the bottom. The red fabric showcases intricate dragon motifs.
• A white and gold gradient trench coat embellished with gold lotuses and silk-like fabric on the back, complementing the red and black ensemble.
