The Gifted Education in St. Clare’s Girls’ School aims to identify gifted students and address their specific educational needs through systematic planning and targeted support. It supports student development by providing diverse learning opportunities and appropriate resources to help students fully develop their potentials and abilities, in close collaboration with teachers, parents, students, education administrators, and the wider community. It promotes key values and competencies including sustainable development, a global outlook, and a broad knowledge base from local, national, and international perspectives. It also focuses on nurturing generic skills such as problem‑solving, communication and presentation skills, perseverance, confidence in learning, and a spirit of striving for excellence. The Gifted Education serves the whole school, covering students from Secondary 1 to Secondary 6, ensuring continuity and progression in gifted education. Its work aligns with the school’s vision of preparing students for life and future responsibilities, guiding every Clarian to search for “Ultimate Truth” with determination for just causes, and unswerving loyalty to ideals. It also aligns with the latest EDB framework of “Taking Root in Chinese Culture, Connecting with the World, Embracing the Future,” nurturing students who are grounded, globally connected, and future‑ready.
Accelerated Learner Programme
A school‑based programme Accelerated Learner (AL) has been launched to provide relevant training and activities for high‑ability students to further explore their potentials and talents. Students achieving the top 10% of the form rank in the annual examination and those with outstanding performance in specific areas are invited to be part of the school‑based student talent pool, being acknowledged as Accelerated Learners (ALs).
Throughout the years, ALs, the cream of the crop, student leaders and students with potential in a particular non‑academic area are encouraged to join a number of pull‑out programmes, external workshops and competitions. Through participating in outreach programmes organized by tertiary institutions, and competitions held by reputable organizations, students can further widen their horizons and raise their zest in learning.
Activities of different nature, including school‑based whole‑class training, internal pull‑out programmes, external pull‑out programmes and off‑school support, have been conducted. Students are allowed to enhance their exposure by fervently partaking in a series of events.
