The National Security and Moral and Civic Education in St. Clare’s Girls’ School aims to nurture students into responsible, caring and informed citizens with a strong sense of national identity and civic awareness in local, national and global contexts. It helps students understand their responsibilities, and respect the values that underpin society. It also fosters positive attitudes, moral judgment and law‑abiding awareness so that students can make thoughtful and ethical decisions in daily life. Serving the whole school, it supports students’ personal, social and values development at different stages of growth. It further promotes environmental awareness and sustainable values by encouraging environmental protection and conservation, cultivating an environmentally friendly culture, and supporting the development of a green campus. These aims align with the school’s vision of holistic development and with the latest EDB framework, including values education and national education. Mainland Study Tours
Mainland study tours are organised for S2‑S5 students, on the Life‑wide Learning Day or during the post‑examination period in July. Through visits to different cities and historical or cultural sites, as well as exchange activities with Mainland schools, students broaden their understanding of the country’s development, history and culture. These learning experiences help students strengthen their national identity, appreciate the diversity and achievements of the motherland, and develop a more comprehensive understanding of contemporary China.
‘Zhuang Yuan Hong’ Chinese Knowledge Quiz Competition
The school organises the ‘Zhuang Yuan Hong’ Chinese Knowledge Quiz Competition for S1‑S2 students, around early December. Through inter‑class competitions on topics such as the Constitution, the Basic Law and Chinese culture, students deepen their knowledge in an engaging and interactive way. The activity aims to enhance students’ understanding of important national and civic concepts, nurture their interest in Chinese culture, and cultivate the values and awareness expected of responsible citizens.
Monthly Film‑sharing Sessions on National Development or Chinese Culture
Monthly film‑sharing sessions are arranged for all students throughout the year to promote understanding of national development and Chinese culture. By viewing selected documentaries or short films, students learn about topics such as cultural heritage, national achievements, social development and the connection between culture and identity. The school plans a range of educational activities for all students throughout the year in connection with important dates in the EDB’s “National Education – Event Planning Calendar”, such as the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, National Constitution Day, and National Security Education Day. Activities include speeches under the national flag, information board displays, game booths, and students’ participation in related community‑organized activities.
